Omišalj, January 1, 2026 – Over the past five years, the LNG Terminal in Omišalj on the island of Krk has confirmed its key role in strengthening the energy security of Croatia and the region. Since the start of operations, the Terminal has received 18.8 million m³ of liquefied natural gas (LNG), while more than 11.3 billion m³ of natural gas have been delivered into the gas transmission system. During this period, 133 LNG carriers were discharged, and LNG was transferred into 545 tanks. Since the beginning of commercial operations, over 60% of all natural gas entering the transmission system has passed through the LNG Terminal.
An important milestone in the Terminal’s development was the departure of the FSRU vessel LNG Croatia to a shipyard in Turkey, where a new regasification module was installed. After the completion of the works, the FSRU vessel LNG Croatia returned to Omišalj and was once again moored at the Terminal.
With this expansion, the Terminal’s maximum capacity increased from 3.9 to 6.1 billion m³ of natural gas per year, enhancing the security of natural gas supply for Croatia as well as neighboring countries.
We thank all employees and partners who contributed to the successful first five years of the LNG Terminal. We continue to strengthen energy supply security and look to the future with optimism regarding upcoming challenges and development.
Here’s to many more successful years! Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year!
