Zagreb, April 10, 2025 – Today, LNG Croatia d.o.o. signed a Grant Agreement for the LNG Terminal capacity increase project This project, valued at a total of EUR 51.1 million, will increase the regasification capacity of the LNG Terminal to a maximum of 6.1 bcm per year. The contract was signed by the Minister of Economy, Mr. Ante Šušnjar; the Director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficient Fund, Mr. Luka Balen; and the Director of LNG Croatia, Mr. Ivan Fugaš. The project aims to increase the terminal’s capacity, further ensuring the stability and security of natural gas supply in Croatia and the surrounding region. It involves installing a new regasification module on the FSRU vessel “LNG Croatia,” along with the necessary equipment and integration into the existing system. The project is financed with EUR 25 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), while LNG Croatia will provide the remaining funds independently. “With the signing of the Grant Agreement today, we have met the last prerequisites for successfully implementing the LNG Terminal capacity increase project. This agreement enables LNG Croatia, as the operator of the LNG Terminal, to receive nearly 50% of the total financial resources required for the completion of the entire project, which we are undertaking in collaboration with Plinacro, the transmission system operator of the Republic of Croatia. The increased capacity of the LNG Terminal enhances the security of natural gas supply not only in the Republic of Croatia but also in Central and Southeastern Europe. This positions Croatia as an important energy hub for this part of Europe and the entire continent. Notably, just five years ago, we were at the bottom of the natural gas supply chain, and now we are becoming leaders in this sector. It is undoubtedly necessary to point out the merits and thank the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Economy as well as the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficient Fund, who, with their expertise and cooperation, led to the realization and signing of the Agreement itself ” said Ivan Fugaš, Director of LNG Croatia.
