MINISTER ĆORIĆ AND LNG DIRECTOR DORIĆ VISITED LNG TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION SITE ON THE ISLAND OF KRK

Zagreb, 10 March 2020 - Minister of Environment and Energy Tomislav Ćorić, PhD and Director of LNG Croatia Barbara Dorić, PhD visited construction site of the LNG terminal on the Island of Krk. 

During the construction site visit, main construction engineer Dobroslav Šestanović, main construction supervision engineer Damir Stipanov and Technical Director of LNG Croatia Hrvoje Krhen informed the Minister on the works which is currently ongoing on the construction site, construction works progress and necessary steps for the completion of the project. Minister Ćorić expressed his satisfaction with the progress and dynamics of the works on the construction site, which are planned to be completed by October this year when the FSRU vessel will arrive at the terminal location so that LNG terminal will be fully operational from 1 January 2021.

Construction works on the onshore part of the terminal, consisting of a jetty with auxiliary facilities and a 4.2 km long connecting gas pipeline, began in mid-April last year and are progressing in accordance with planned dynamics. So far, over 60% of all construction and mechanical-engineering works have been completed. Upon the arrival of the FSRU vessel to the terminal location in October this year, the commissioning and trial works of the terminal will be performed and issuing of the usage permit required for the terminal operation will follow by the end of the year so that commercial operation of the LNG terminal will start as planned, from 1 January 2021.

The LNG terminal on the Island of Krk will provide security of natural gas supply and competitiveness on the gas market. It is a project of strategic interest of the Republic of Croatia and the European Union.
